Job Description

This is a permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2025. As an Indigenous Education Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families, teachers, the school, and the wider community.

You will ideally help share knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language, and culture, fostering a deeper connection and respect within the school environment.

A successful candidate will have a strong connection to Aboriginal culture and the ability to build positive relationships with families and the local community. The ability to work collaboratively in teams, as well as independently, to achieve the best outcomes for students and their families will be highly valued.

About the Role

As an Indigenous Education Specialist, you will:

  • Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families, teachers, the school, and the wider community.
  • Share knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language, and culture.
  • Foster a deeper connection and respect within the school environment.
  • Work collaboratively in teams, as well as independently, to achieve the best outcomes for students and their families.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and independently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and reconciliation.
  • A valid Working With Children Check.
