Job Title: Safety Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Officer to join our team at Buildability Group. As a Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest safety standards are maintained on our construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough site inductions to ensure all personnel are aware of potential hazards and safety protocols.
  • Review and monitor contractors' Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee general site safety, including the implementation of control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Lead site safety meetings to discuss safety concerns, share best practices, and promote a culture of safety.
  • Analyze site practices and implement improved safety protocols to minimize the risk of incidents and injuries.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, and hazards, and implement agreed control measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness among site personnel, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all Site Management Plans, including the development and implementation of safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date WHS records for the project, including incident reports, hazard reports, and safety audits.
  • Collaborate with contractors and site teams to identify and eliminate workplace risks, and implement effective control measures.

Requirements:

  • Cert IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent qualification.
  • Sound understanding of WHS legislation and regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Previous experience in a Safety Advisor role on construction projects, with a proven track record of improving safety outcomes.
