Review and Update OHS Policies and MeasuresRegularly review and update existing OHS policies and measures to ensure compliance with changing legislation and regulations.
Initiate and Organize OHS TrainingDevelop and implement comprehensive OHS training programs for employees and executives to ensure they are equipped to work safely and effectively.
Inspect Premises and Work ActivitiesConduct regular inspections of premises and work activities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OHS regulations.
Oversee Installations, Maintenance, and DisposalEnsure that all installations, maintenance, and disposal activities are conducted in accordance with OHS regulations and best practices.
Stop Unsafe Acts or ProcessesIdentify and stop any unsafe acts or processes that pose a risk to employees or the organization.
Record and Investigate IncidentsRecord and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims in accordance with OHS regulations.
Prepare Reports and Statistical InformationPrepare comprehensive reports on OHS incidents and provide statistical information to upper management to inform decision-making.
Requirements- Proven Experience as a Safety Officer
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in a similar industry or organization.
In-Depth Knowledge of OHS Legislation and ProceduresThorough understanding of OHS legislation, regulations, and procedures, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and PracticesKnowledge of potentially hazardous materials and practices, including noise levels, machinery usage, and other hazards.
Experience in Writing Reports and PoliciesExperience in writing comprehensive reports and policies for health and safety, including incident reports and OHS policies.
Familiarity with Data Analysis and ReportingFamiliarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistical information to inform decision-making.
Proficient in MS Office and Safety Management SystemsProficient in MS Office and working knowledge of safety management information systems.
Outstanding Organizational and Communication SkillsExcellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics to employees and executives.
Relevant Education and CertificationsBSc/BA in safety management, engineering, or a relevant field, and a certificate in occupational health and safety.
