
Career Advancement: Lead Workshop Operations

We are seeking an experienced Technical Supervisor to join our team.
This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as technical expertise. As a Technical Supervisor, you will be responsible for the operational performance and administration of assigned workshops and technicians.
- Supervise and manage the professional conduct of both permanent and supplementary employees.
- Design and build new equipment, modify existing equipment, and ensure its maintenance.
- Conduct comprehensive safety inductions and training plans for all personnel.
- Issue necessary safety equipment and tools for tasks.
- Purchase additional equipment, safety gear, components, and workshop supplies as required.
- Document daily activities and provide reports as needed.
- Verify service job sheets for contract work to ensure accurate charging.
- Ensure reasonable work times and monitor start/stop times and meal/smoke breaks.
- Host regular safety meetings in the workshop and maintain compliance with occupational health, safety, welfare, and environment requirements.
- Maintain a clean and efficient workshop environment.
- Address client or personnel complaints as necessary.
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- Fitter & Turner, Fitter Machinist, or other trade qualifications at C10 or above.
- Leadership and management qualifications or relevant experience.
- Previous supervision/management experience of a small to medium-sized field service or workshop organization, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
- Excellent service delivery skills and ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to share responsibilities and work overtime when required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal English language proficiency.
- High level of computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office suite.
- Effective problem-solving and organizational skills.
- A current Australian Driver's Licence and Forklift Ticket (or preparedness to obtain).
