About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our Scientific Software Group as an Industrial Placement student. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge software development projects, collaborating with our team of experts in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software solutions for use at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source
  • Use continuous integration systems to develop software within our continuous delivery pipeline
  • Participate in Agile development processes
  • Undertake training in relevant tools and techniques
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
  • Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
  • Able to commence employment in summer 2025
  • Studying for a degree in a software engineering, computer science, natural science, or a strongly related subject
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills, both technical and non-technical
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to program in a modern language
  • An interest in computing and science
