Policy Lead - Energy Policy Specialist

AusNet Services Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Policy Lead to join our Regulation & Policy team. As a Policy Lead, you will play a key role in shaping our company's policy positions and strategies on priority reforms, including business engagements to identify developments, opportunities, and risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Agreeing policy positions and strategies on priority reforms, including business engagements to identify developments, opportunities, and risks;
  • Engaging actively and meaningfully on policy or regulatory issues with governments, regulators, or industry to positively influence decisions made or positions settled;
  • Collaborating and coordinating with internal AusNet stakeholders that engage with the range of stakeholders impactful to our policy positions;
  • Developing positive relationships with internal leaders and specialists – building their support for, and understanding of, AusNet's position and advocacy approach;
  • Developing and sharing policy insights over complex energy and industry issues from industry, research, AusNet trials, and projects.
Requirements:
  • Significant demonstrated experience working in policy development, and familiarity with policy or regulatory setting process – whether with industry, government, or regulatory body;
  • Experience in and strong understanding of energy markets, policy, and regulation, preferably in regulated or commercial transmission sector, however, experience in electricity and gas distribution also valued;
  • Tertiary qualifications within a related discipline;
  • Outstanding written and strong verbal communication skills to influence mutually beneficial outcomes;
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable communication and collaboration with internal and external parties;
  • Confidently operate independently and bring your own ability to organise and lead working-level teams on policy;
  • Demonstrated ability to hold or develop 'trusted' relationships with senior stakeholders.
