Relevant qualifications such as Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying or equivalent, Building Surveying Practitioner Level 2 Certificate of Registration in Western Australia, Current unrestricted WA 'C' class Driver's Licence, and Current National Police Check (within 6 months) are essentials for this role.

A minimum of 3 years experience as building surveyor with sound working knowledge in Building Act 2011, Building Regulations 2012, Building Code of Australia and other relevant legislation, ability to provide specialist advice and apply knowledge of relevant procedures, excellent interpersonal and time management skills, high-level of Ms Office skills, demonstrated skills in investigation, research, and reporting on building related matters as well as problem solving.

Job responsibilities include assessment and processing of building and demolition applications and certificates, undertaking and coordinating inspections of private swimming pool safety barriers for compliance, maintaining appropriate records, liaising with external stakeholders, providing technical advice to customers, investigating and resolving non-compliant building matters based on risk, due process and recommended enforcement action, carrying out building inspections to assess compliance with the Building Code of Australia, National Construction Code etc. This job requires a strong understanding of legislation, codes, and guidelines related to building and construction.

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all legislation, codes, and guidelines as they apply to building and construction. The successful candidate will have a high level of knowledge in current and emerging industry practices and legislation changes, be able to maintain a high level of record keeping, communicate effectively with stakeholders, identify and address non-compliance issues, investigate complex building matters, recommend and implement corrective actions and take a proactive approach to improving processes.

Key responsibilities of this role involve assessing land use and development proposals for compliance with relevant building legislation and standards, conducting site visits to inspect building sites, reviewing plans and specifications to ensure compliance, identifying potential risks and hazards, taking remedial action where necessary, recommending and implementing best practice processes and being an advocate for professional development within the organization.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in building surveying, including knowledge of the Building Act 2011, Building Regulations 2012, Building Code of Australia and other relevant legislation, good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, be highly organized with a strong attention to detail, possess problem-solving skills and be adaptable to changing circumstances.
