We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Scientist to lead our microbiology department. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to take on a senior role and make a real impact in the field of microbiology.
About the Role:The Chief Scientist will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department, including overseeing testing and development, validating methods, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
You will also be responsible for strategic planning, client management, and resource allocation to optimize laboratory performance and support clinical needs.
- Manage Departmental Operations: Oversee the daily activities of the department, including testing, development, and validation of methods.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement plans to improve laboratory performance, meet business objectives, and support clinical needs.
- Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Departmental Leadership: Provide direction, guidance, and support to team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively.
- Testing and Development: Oversee the testing and development of new methods, technologies, and equipment to stay up-to-date with industry advancements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all departmental activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance procedures to ensure that all work products meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
- Business Development: Identify opportunities for growth and develop strategies to increase revenue and market share.
To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Education: Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
- Experience: 6 years' experience as a senior scientist in a related field, with exposure across pathology.
- Skillset: Proven leadership skills, self-initiative, problem-solving capabilities, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
