Portfolio Manager Role

This position is suitable for early-career underwriting professionals looking to gain advanced portfolio management experience and further their careers in underwriting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Property, Energy and Marine General Insurance markets in Australia and New Zealand by managing portfolios and executing underwriting strategies to drive profitable growth.
  • Align Property and Marine teams for unified operations, develop policy wording approaches, manage risk engineering insights, provide analysis for market-facing leadership, and lead portfolio improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor tactical plans, adapt global strategies to local markets, and work closely with Commercial Insurance Underwriting and other teams to meet business objectives.
  • Track management metrics, ensure accurate data across pricing and exposure management, collaborate with leadership for correct tiering, escalate exposures, and recommend portfolio adjustments.
  • Identify training needs and support compliance and regulatory reporting.
Requirements:
  • Experience in general insurance, specifically underwriting.
  • Skilled in data analysis, trend identification, and delivering insightful recommendations.
  • Track record of executing strategic plans and company initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
  • Solid grasp of governance, risk management, and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset—open to new challenges, resilient, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • ANZII CIP member or equivalent qualification.
