The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our premier, award-winning Corporate M&A team in Sydney. In this role, you will have exposure to some of the best and highest-profile deals in Australia and work closely with a range of leading Partners across our Corporate group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across a range of corporate transactions, including public and private M&A deals, and cross-border transactions.
  • Act as lead lawyer on M&A transactions, including drafting and negotiating key transaction documents, leading due diligence, and providing advice on areas of legal risk for clients.
  • Project manage transactions to ensure that key deadlines are met, and deliverables are anticipated, including working closely with other legal teams across the firm to deliver an integrated service to our clients.
  • Manage and build external client relationships, including assisting with business development activities for key existing clients and new clients.
  • Mentor junior associates in the team and take an active role in their professional development.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in law and an unrestricted Australian or New Zealand practicing certificate.
  • Quality experience as a Senior Associate within a leading corporate M&A practice.
  • Experience across public and/or private M&A, and corporate advisory experience.
  • Excellent academic results, and a passion for continued learning.
  • A desire and energy to contribute to a high-performing team, and actively supervise and support others.
  • A proactive approach and ability to work to tight timeframes, collaboratively and at times autonomously.
  • A curiosity about clients, and eagerness to build relationships to support the growth and reputation of the practice.
