About the Role

The City of Nedlands is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Urban Planning and Development Manager to lead our team in shaping the city's urban landscape. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the city's growth and development align with our strategic objectives and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage the Urban Planning and Development Business Unit: Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and Council Plan.
  • Develop and Implement Urban Planning Frameworks: Align with the City's strategic objectives and Council Plan.
  • Provide Expert Advice: To Council, administration, and external stakeholders on urban planning and building control matters.
  • Manage and Mentor a Team: Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Oversee Strategic Town Planning Projects: Coordinate subdivision processes and ensure alignment with the City's long-term goals.
  • Promote a Positive Workplace Culture: Ensure the safety and well-being of team members.
About the Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline, and/or demonstrate substantial experience in a similar role. Other requirements include:

  • Comprehensive Knowledge: Of strategic town planning, building control, and the planning framework.
  • Thorough Understanding: Of relevant legislation, including the Local Government Act 1995 and Building Act 2011.
  • Excellent Communication: Skills, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated Leadership Experience: With a track record of driving team performance and achieving strategic goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A Current National Police Certificate.
What We Offer

This position is a full-time, maximum term contract of up to 5 years duration. A remuneration package between $164,488 and $201,114 per annum (inclusive of cash salary and superannuation) is on offer, dependent on skills and experience.
