This role involves developing tools and processes for monitoring, operating, and scaling ground infrastructure to serve millions of users globally. You will automate repetitive tasks to ensure high availability of the ground infrastructure using metrics, scalability in design, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Continuously strive for operational excellence by automating manual processes
  • Ensure all systems are designed to be robust, scalable, maintainable, and adaptable as the service scales over time
  • Build and maintain critical infrastructure, tools, and procedures to report on ground infrastructure health
  • Integrate with existing systems such as trouble ticketing, dashboards, and metrics tools and services
  • Measure and improve performance and availability of the Kuiper Ground Infrastructure
  • Provide operations support and incident response while participating in an on-call rotation

A Day in Your Life

As a System Engineer, you will work closely with partners, leaders, and other engineers to influence and lead system design. Your ideas and ability to take initiative, innovate, and produce results will drive customer experience improvements.

Day-to-day work may involve automation or scripting, operational excellence initiatives, design meetings, coordination with engineering teams and external partners, and on-call rotations.

About the Team

The team consists of leaders, system development engineers, and network development engineers in North America, Europe, and Australia. Our mission is to ensure Kuiper Ground Infrastructure is always available to serve customers.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Programming skills in modern languages like Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Linux/Unix experience
  • CI/CD pipeline build process experience
