Job Title: Neurologist/Stroke Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neurologist to lead our Stroke Medicine Service in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing Stroke services across the district, working closely with the Head of Service and the Neurology Service team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of Stroke care delivery strategies
  • Coordinating and participating in the on-call roster, inpatient, and outpatient clinical care in both Stroke and General Neurology
  • Providing high-quality clinical care to patients with stroke and neurological conditions
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and service delivery
  • Developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance Stroke care
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Specialist registration or eligibility for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Neurology and/or equivalent and specialist recognition and further training/qualifications in Stroke
  • Proven experience in providing high-quality Stroke and Neurology services, with a strong focus on quality improvement and service development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Geographical availability commensurate with rostering, patient care, and site visit responsibilities
