Seeking a Neurologist/Stroke Lead for the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Neurologist to lead our Stroke Service in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. As a Stroke Lead, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing Stroke services across the district, working closely with the Head of Service and other healthcare professionals.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Stroke Medicine and Services, with experience in leading high-quality clinical care and service development. You will be expected to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, and demonstrate a commitment to teaching and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of Stroke services across the district
  • Work closely with the Head of Service and other healthcare professionals to achieve high-quality clinical care and service development
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve Stroke care and services
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to junior medical staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and experience

Requirements:

  • Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Neurology and/or equivalent and specialist recognition and further training/qualifications in Stroke
  • Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality Stroke and Neurology services
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and education
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues
