Job Opportunity: Neurologist/Stroke Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neurologist to join our team as a Stroke Lead for the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. As a key member of our Neurology Service, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality stroke care to our patients.

About the Role

The successful applicant will lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of stroke services across the district, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to achieve comprehensive and equitable stroke care delivery. You will be responsible for leading the development of stroke services, including the coordination of on-call rosters, inpatient and outpatient clinical care, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of stroke services across the district
  • Develop and implement stroke care policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality stroke care
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to junior medical staff
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new services and programs
Requirements
  • Specialist registration or eligibility for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Neurology and/or equivalent and specialist recognition and further training/qualifications in Stroke
  • Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality stroke and neurology services
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and education
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health service colleagues
