
Health and Wellbeing Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Psychosocial Health and Wellbeing Professional to drive our mental health strategy across various healthcare settings. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of psychosocial hazards and relevant WHS frameworks, as well as proven experience in implementing mental health strategies or psychosocial risk programs in complex organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- To develop and implement mental health roadmaps across hospitals, services, and functions
- To translate strategic priorities into operational plans that align with organizational realities
- To lead engagement activities to ensure commitment, ownership, and shared accountability at a local level
- To provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support to OHS, HR, and operational managers in identifying, assessing, and managing psychosocial risks
- To build capability of leaders to fulfill their responsibilities under WHS legislation, including creating psychologically safe teams and managing psychosocial hazards
- To develop and facilitate practical training, tools, and workshops tailored to the needs of diverse clinical and non-clinical settings
- To lead and support the implementation of psychosocial risk management processes in line with legislative requirements and best practice
- To support local teams to identify appropriate controls and action plans to mitigate identified risks
- To promote a risk management culture that prioritizes prevention and early intervention
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in psychology, occupational health and safety, organizational development, or a related field. They will also demonstrate advanced knowledge of psychosocial hazards and relevant WHS frameworks.
Desirable Skills:
- Proven experience in implementing mental health strategies or psychosocial risk programs in large, complex organizations
- Demonstrated experience coaching and supporting operational leaders, OHS, and HR practitioners to implement safety and wellbeing practices
- High-level communication and engagement skills, including relationship building, empathy, negotiation, and conflict management
