Medical Science Liaison Gastroenterology Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Science Liaison to join our team in the Gastroenterology therapeutic area. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining expert knowledge of gastroenterology medical research and providing scientific and technical support to external experts and internal stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific and technical support for external experts and academic centers in the field of gastroenterology.
  • Maintain professional relationships with physicians and external experts to ensure access to current medical information on gastroenterology products and areas of therapeutic interest.
  • Deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to physicians, individually or in groups, on topics such as gastrointestinal disease management, clinical trial design, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the selection process to identify qualified physicians for collaborative efforts, such as potential research collaborations, lecture/meeting support, and advisory boards.
  • Assist in initiation, oversight, and follow-up of assigned clinical studies/medical projects in gastroenterology.
  • Develop awareness and understanding of competitor issues/intelligence in the gastroenterology therapeutic area and communicate within the company.
  • Attend relevant scientific societies meetings/conferences and develop summaries of key messages for use within the company.
  • Support the development and review of promotional material in collaboration with commercial teams and medical colleagues in accordance with all relevant regulations and industry voluntary codes of practice.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Solid knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and the role of medical affairs.
  • Knowledge of the scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls.

Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Keen interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for assigned therapeutic area/product and in medical research in general.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role in the healthcare industry.
  • Exposure to medical affairs or medical information functions with the healthcare industry.
  • Experience in the presentation and/or interpretation of scientific or clinical research publications.
