Job Description

The Peninsula Community Legal Centre is seeking a dedicated professional to work within the Tenant Assistance & Advocacy Program. The successful candidate will provide high-quality advice, casework, and advocacy services to assist vulnerable and disadvantaged Frankston renters with their tenancy issues.

As a Tenancy Lawyer/Advocate, you will provide representation services as well as some duty lawyer/advocacy services at the Frankston registry of the Residential Tenancies List of the Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal.

Your key responsibilities will include delivering high-quality legal advice and casework, advocacy, and representation services in accordance with the Centre's Advice and Casework Guidelines and Program requirements.

  • Deliver High-Quality Services: Provide expert advice and casework, advocacy, and representation services to clients in accordance with the Centre's Guidelines and Program requirements.
  • Representation and Duty Lawyer Services: Provide representation/duty lawyer/advocate services in accordance with the Centre's Advice and Casework & Program Guidelines.
  • Casework Management: Conduct ongoing casework in accordance with the Centre's Advice and Casework Guidelines and within the caseload/file limit directed from time to time.
  • Case File Management: Maintain an appropriate case management system, including undertaking regular file reviews.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including file notes, service delivery, quarterly client and casework statistics.
  • Professional Development: Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, procedures, and practices relevant to the position.
  • Supervision and Meetings: Participate in regular supervision and caseworkers' meetings.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all work is conducted within the requirements of the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014, the Centre's professional indemnity insurance, and the Centre's policies and procedures.

This is a fixed-term contract for 3 days per week. You will be required to travel to PCLC branches, service locations, and courts. A current Victorian Driver's Licence and access to a reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle are essential.
