About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Anaesthetic Nurse to join our Perioperative Services team based at Mater Private Hospital Townsville.

The Perioperative Services department at Mater Private Hospital Townsville provides surgical services across 16 theatres and caters for adults and paediatrics with a variety of surgical specialities.

The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications and registration with AHPRA, 2 years' experience or more as a Registered Nurse in a hospital perioperative setting with relevant specialty experience (Anaesthetics), and relevant postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Anaesthetist to prepare the environment and equipment for the patient, prepare equipment for administering the anaesthetic, receive the patient into the operating room, and establish rapport with the patient.
  • Communicate relevant patient information to the other members of the intra-operative team, both nurses and doctors, assist with intra-operative patient monitoring, and ensure the patient's safety, comfort, and warmth.
  • Assist the anaesthetist at the end of the procedure as the patient emerges from the effects of anaesthesia.
