About the Role

Within this full-time permanent role, the successful candidate will work as part of the senior staff team to meet the departmental objectives and develop the work of the theatre service.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe, efficient, and effective service is provided to patients and Visiting Medical Officers within Perioperative Services on a day-to-day basis.
- Provide clinical expertise, direct support and coaching to staff within the department, with a clear focus on the patient experience and quality of services.
- Coordinate all clinical activity to maximize efficiency and ensure staff meal breaks and reliefs are arranged in a timely manner.
- Act as a clinical expert within the area of work, demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise.
- Liaise and co-operate with the wards, other departments, and personnel in the hospital.
- Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the theatre department in the daily running and organisation of theatre activity and provide support in all clinical areas as necessary.
- Maintain and raise the clinical standard of care through the process of audit, and as a result implement changes in best practice.
- Identify and communicate quality improvement ideas to senior staff to enhance patient care.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will meet the following criteria:
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner's Regulation Agency with a current licence to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in a clinical area or specialty applicable to the unit.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Perioperative Nursing.
- Demonstrated advanced ability to communicate complex and challenging information constructively.
