Director of Technical Services Job Description

We are currently seeking a Director to provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Technical Services Directorate.

This role will lead the Technical Services Directorate in line with Council's strategic objectives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality infrastructure, engineering and regulatory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Technical Services Directorate in line with Council's strategic objectives, IP&R Framework and legislative requirements.
  • Provide clear direction, effective communication and strong leadership to staff fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the Directorate and Council in meetings, public forums and advocacy activities.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery and review of infrastructure, engineering and regulatory services.
  • Ensure projects and services are completed on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
  • Monitor performance, allocate resources and address operational issues effectively.
  • Prepare, manage and monitor Directorate budgets.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources while achieving Council's objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures including WHS and risk management obligations.
  • Maintain accurate corporate records and adhere to governance requirements.
  • Maintain effective relationships with the Mayor, Councillors, General Manager, staff, community members, government agencies, industry bodies and other stakeholders.
