Job Opportunity

The Director Technical Services is a strategic leadership position responsible for operational management of the Technical Services Directorate.

The role ensures delivery of high-quality infrastructure, engineering and regulatory services in line with Council's integrated Planning and Reporting Framework, legislative requirements and community expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Technical Services Directorate in line with Council's strategic objectives and legislative requirements.
  • Provide clear direction, effective communication and strong leadership to staff fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the Directorate and Council in meetings, public forums and advocacy activities.
  • Oversee planning, delivery and review of infrastructure, engineering and regulatory services.
  • Ensure projects and services are completed on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
  • Monitor performance, allocate resources and address operational issues effectively.
  • Prepare, manage and monitor Directorate budgets.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources while achieving Council's objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures including WHS and risk management obligations.
  • Fulfil responsibilities of an Officer under the WHS Act 2011 by identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing effective control measures.
  • Maintain accurate corporate records and adhere to governance requirements.
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Promote positive image of Council and its services within Council.
  • Conduct performance reviews and competency assessments for staff.
  • Support staff development and succession planning.
