This role presents a hands-on opportunity to work with specialized equipment fundamental to road construction operations.

\

You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing bitumen tankers, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant standards.

\

Responsibilities

\
  • \
  • Conducting routine inspections of bitumen tank systems, diagnosing mechanical faults, and performing preventative maintenance on tank systems, including burners, pumps, valves, and hydraulic components.\
  • Maintaining the integrity of heating systems that keep bitumen at optimal temperature during transport and unloading.\
  • Carrying out welding and fabrication repairs, monitoring and calibrating temperature and pressure controls, and ensuring all work is completed in line with relevant safety, environmental, and transport compliance standards.\

    • Mechanical and hydraulic system knowledge.\
    • Experience with burner systems and pipework.\
    • Welding and fabrication skills.\
    • Understanding of hazardous materials handling (especially hot bitumen).\
    • Strong safety awareness and PPE compliance.\

      • Routine maintenance of bitumen tanks and associated equipment (valves, burners, pumps, hoses).\
      • Inspecting and repairing heating systems, such as diesel burners or LPG systems, that keep bitumen at the correct temperature.\
      • Servicing hydraulic systems used for loading/unloading bitumen.\
      • Checking insulation and structural integrity of tanks to prevent heat loss or leaks.\
      • Cleaning and flushing tanks to remove bitumen buildup or contamination.\
      • Testing and calibrating gauges and sensors (temperature, pressure, level indicators).\
      • Performing welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs as required.\
      • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, especially due to the flammable and hazardous nature of bitumen.\
