Role Description

Join Our Team as a Public Health Professional

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental health and be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

This role requires the ability to facilitate, implement and monitor environmental health tasks related to the Public Health Act 2010 and other legislation.

The successful candidate will contribute to emergency management in the Local Health District and support the Environmental Health team in responding to major issues and incidents.

About the Role

This position is based at our Liverpool Office and requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and contribute to the development of the Public Health Unit's services.

Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate, implement and monitor environmental health tasks related to the Public Health Act 2010 and other legislation.
  • Contribute to emergency management in the Local Health District.
  • Investigate elevated blood lead notifications, private drinking water supplies & quality assurance program monitoring activities.
  • Undertake e-cigarette & tobacco control compliance inspections.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or other environmental health/management qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience in managing a range of Environmental Health issues, particularly health risk assessment and environmental management and knowledge of relevant public health legislation.
  • Knowledge of environmental health policy, public health and environmental legislation as it applies to health, and an interest in undertaking public health research.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to situations, respond to emergencies and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
