About the Role

CGC Recruitment is exclusively partnered with Sydney Water to fill a permanent position for a Safety Advisor in their Operations Team, under the Water Environmental Services Division.

Job Summary

The Safety Advisor will be responsible for delivering safety support to Sydney Water businesses, providing expert advice and support in delivering specific business unit strategic objectives, plans, management systems objectives, mitigation of safety risks and hazards, the prevention of workplace injuries, the prevention of incidents and occurrences, regulatory compliance, and the promotion of a safe culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level safety support to Sydney Water businesses
  • Deliver expert advice and support in delivering specific business unit strategic objectives, plans, and management systems objectives
  • Mitigate safety risks and hazards, prevent workplace injuries, and prevent incidents and occurrences
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe culture
  • Work effectively in a team environment and foster networking between various areas and departments
Requirements
  • High level of interpersonal skills, including team, relationship building, and conflict resolution

  • Working knowledge of the WHS Act, WHS Regulations, and associated Codes of Practice and Australian Standards

  • Strategic orientation, understands strategic context and the opportunities for change

  • A working knowledge of the NSW Government OHS Management System Guidelines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of implementing an OHS Management System
  • Understanding of contract safety management
  • Demonstrated change management ability
  • Experience in the Utilities sector
  • Trade background highly desirable
Qualifications, Licenses, and Certifications
  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Formal and recognized lead auditor qualifications in safety
  • Formal and recognized qualifications in Safety Investigations
