About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Professional to join our team at Sulzer. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion Safety Accountability: Develop and implement a comprehensive safety management system that drives a culture of safety awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Safety Systems Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain effective safety systems, including risk assessments, job safety analyses, and training programs, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Proactive Injury Prevention & Injury Management: Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent injuries and illnesses, including workplace inspections, hazard reporting, and incident investigation.
  • Incident Management: Lead the investigation and resolution of incidents, ensuring that root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented to prevent future occurrences.
  • Employee Engagement: Foster a culture of safety awareness and engagement among employees, including regular training, communication, and feedback.
  • Business Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with operational supervisors and managers to ensure that safety is integrated into all aspects of the business.
  • Consultation & Communication: Provide regular safety updates and reports to management and employees, ensuring that everyone is informed and engaged in safety initiatives.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the organization complies with all relevant safety regulations, laws, and industry standards.
  • Audit Leadership: Plan, lead, and conduct internal and external safety audits to ensure that the organization's safety management system is effective and compliant.
  • Management System & Certification: Develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and processes to maintain the organization's safety management system and certifications.
  • Safety System Management: Promote and maintain the organization's safety management system, including the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide regular safety performance reports to management, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure safety performance.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree or diploma in safety, occupational health, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant safety certifications, such as RTW accreditation and first aid/CPR accreditation.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in an industrial workshop or manufacturing environment.
  • Skills: Leadership, cultural change, safety systems implementation, root cause analysis, and working knowledge of WHS legislation and regulations.
