About the Role

The Senior Advisor, Indigenous Access and Engagement will lead the entry and admissions processes within RMIT to support the access of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to the university.

This role reports to the Manager, Indigenous Education and works closely with the Academic Registrars Group and internal and external stakeholders to achieve this goal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Access and Engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community admissions into RMIT
  • Work closely with the Academic Registrars Group and internal and external stakeholders to achieve this goal
  • Develop and implement strategies to support the access of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to RMIT
  • Provide advice and support to students to pursue their educational aspirations and goals
  • Manage sensitive matters in a professional and culturally sensitive manner
  • Build rapport with staff, students, and the community
Requirements
  • A degree and/or postgraduate degree in a relevant field of education
  • Extensive relevant experience with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in an educational or similar environment
  • Excellent administrative skills, including accurate and efficient record keeping and use of ICT packages
  • Experience in project management, with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deadlines, and a positive and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and build rapport with staff, students, and the community
