
Senior Perinatal Infant Mental Health Specialist

This is an exciting career opportunity to become a key facilitator in connecting parents experiencing perinatal and infant mental health concerns with suitable services. The role involves facilitating intake, triage, and screening of referrals to ensure timely access to relevant support.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating care pathways by working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated, culturally appropriate support.
- Providing expert guidance and clinical decision-making to facilitate access to the right perinatal infant mental health services prioritizing client safety and wellbeing.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local perinatal infant mental health services and eligibility criteria, acting as a resource for health professionals on referral options and pathways.
- Supporting ongoing development of the program by participating in practice communities, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care and contributing to continuous service improvement.
About You:
- You will have a relevant degree enabling full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers or registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. For Registered Nurses, you will hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience.
- Proven ability to conduct comprehensive perinatal biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and develop individualized care plans including risk management and safeguarding.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- In-depth knowledge of mental health issues related to pregnancy, birth, postnatal period, trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and social determinants impacting infant, child, and family wellbeing.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, health service standards, and public health service models.
