We are seeking an experienced Senior Youth Counsellor to join our team at Chisholm Institute of TAFE. As a key member of our Student Support and Engagement department, you will be responsible for providing support services to members of our community, specialising in the counselling of young people.
The successful candidate will lead the support and undertake planning, coordination, and provision of wellbeing support to students attending Chisholm, including those in the Senior Secondary programs. A key focus for this role is the coordination and delivery of support during critical incidents and crisis presentations across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Mentor, coach, and support team members to apply best practice methods and wellbeing support to students
- Act as a thought leader and specialist context-relevant problem solver to support delivery departments and improve the student experience, particularly for young people in the Senior Secondary programs
- Identify, create, and lead solutions to organisation policy, guidelines, practices, and processes related to student welfare and support requirements to stay current and relevant to industry standards
- Coordinate and facilitate pop-up engagement events to encourage a sense of community, belonging, and inclusion
- Provide professional and confidential counselling to students for a range of personal, social, professional, academic, and financial concerns
- Provide expert advice relating to the development and implementation of any overarching youth strategies across Chisholm
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a minimum of 5 years' experience as a psychologist, counsellor, or welfare provider to high-risk clients requiring case management, referral, crisis, and reactive support services.
Qualifications required for the role include a tertiary qualification relevant to youth, social work, or counselling, and eligibility for registration or membership with PACFA, ACA, or AASW.
