Locomotive Driver Opportunity

We are seeking a fully qualified Locomotive Driver to prepare, manage and operate locomotives and trains safely.

  • Driving Pacific National trains in DOO mode, adhering to safe working regulations and driver accreditation
  • Liaising with train control for efficient train operation, maximising fuel savings while meeting schedule requirements
  • Performing minor maintenance, first-level locomotive servicing and provisioning activities
  • Problem-solving faults while operating the train with specialty providers
  • Participating in safety culture development, working safely at all times, and ensuring employees comply with OH&S Regulations and company policies
  • Maintaining operational skills competency, engaging in training to upgrade or update skills
  • Contributing to continuous improvement projects for productivity, efficiency, and best practice customer service
  • Working co-operatively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting in shunting duties as required
About You

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A strong commitment to safety, including demonstrated ability to implement emergency procedures
  • High level organisation, planning, and time management skills for dynamic 24/7 shift work environment flexibility and commitment
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Problem-solving skills in the workplace
  • Experience operating locomotives with ATP (Automatic Train Protection)
  • Customer-focused approach and flexibility in changing circumstances
  • Experience operating intermodal services and Pacific National class locomotives highly regarded
  • Passion for success and willingness to undertake ongoing training and development activities
  • Current Motor Vehicle Driver's License
  • Basic computer proficiency
