Locomotive Driver Position

We are seeking a qualified professional to operate locomotives and trains safely in accordance with established operating procedures and agreements, to meet customer and operational requirements.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Operating trains in DOO mode and adhering to all Safe working regulations and requirements of driver accreditation
  • Liaising with train control regarding the operation of the train to schedule, running the train to maximum efficiency, to maximise fuel savings within the parameters of adherence to the schedule
  • Liaising and working with contract maintainers, performing minor maintenance, and being responsible for all first level locomotive servicing and provisioning activities
  • Problem solving faults whilst operating the train in conjunction with speciality providers
  • Participating in the development of a safety culture in the organisation, working safely at all times and ensuring all employees comply with OH&S Regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Maintaining competency in all operational skills and engaging in training to upgrade or update skills
  • Contributing to continuous improvement projects aimed at maximising productivity and efficiency and best practice customer service
  • Working co-operatively to achieve positive work place relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting in shunting duties as required.
