Indigenous Cultural Engagement Officer

This is a vital role that involves promoting Indigenous culture and community engagement initiatives.

You will collaborate with Indigenous communities, facilitate cultural awareness training and workshops, support policy development and implementation, engage with Indigenous Elders and leaders, and provide advice on cultural protocols and practices.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Indigenous communities to develop cultural programs and initiatives.
  • Facilitate cultural awareness training and workshops for government staff and stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and initiatives to promote Indigenous cultural preservation and celebration.
  • Engage with Indigenous Elders and community leaders to ensure their voices are heard and respected.
  • Provide advice and guidance on Indigenous cultural protocols and practices to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding and appreciation of Indigenous culture and traditions.
  • Show strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with Indigenous communities.
  • Have knowledge of government policies and programs related to Indigenous affairs.
  • Be committed to reconciliation and promoting Indigenous voices and perspectives.
  • Possess experience in community engagement or cultural development roles (preferred).
