Job Opportunity

About the Role:

Cultural Support will sit in the Out of Home Care team and promote culture and self-determination to Aboriginal young people.

The role will require a strong understanding of Aboriginal societies and cultures, along with awareness of key issues impacting Aboriginal communities.

A commitment to building knowledge in this area is essential for success in this position.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To promote cultural awareness and importance of self-determination among Aboriginal young people
  • To work closely with the Out of Home Care team to develop and implement strategies promoting cultural support
  • To maintain a high level of cultural sensitivity and awareness at all times

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated commitment to VACCA's vision and purpose
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures
  • Demonstrated experience working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children
  • Growing knowledge of Child Protection and out of home care system
