Mental Health Clinician Opportunity in Northern Suburbs Melbourne

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Mental Health Clinician to join the Specialist Older Adult Consultation Service (SOACS) within the Older Adult Mental Health Division at Northern Health.
As a Community Older Adult Mental Health Key Clinician, you will be responsible for providing assessment, treatment, co-ordination of care and discharge planning for older persons with complex mental health issues, frailty and/or co-morbidities who reside in their own homes (including RACFs) in the Northern region of Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide brief interventions as well as medium to long-term therapy depending on the identified needs of the person. Work closely with consumers, carers and wider family members or support systems to achieve positive recovery outcomes.
- Maintain a high standard of knowledge/skills in discipline-specific areas.
- Have practiced in a community mental health setting for more than two years, and preferably have recent community experience.
- Excellent communication skills which will assist in supporting consumers to develop and utilise strategies and different treatment modalities, and to access resources and support to enhance their recovery.
- Sound working knowledge of mental health for older adults, an ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively at all levels and the capacity to work well within small teams and to work autonomously.
- Ability to prioritise risk and attend to crises appropriately.
- Occasional after-hours work may be required to assist with facilitating admissions.
- A current driver's licence is essential.
- Preference for previous work in Older Adult Mental Health.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by older adults with a mental illness.
- Experience and good working knowledge of Mental health and wellbeing act.
- Proven ability and experience to work autonomously in a community Mental Health team.
- You will have Registration as a Registered Nurse with a specialist mental health nursing qualification (or equivalent) Or You may be an allied Health mental health clinician equivalent - being an experienced OT2, SW2, P2 with relevant endorsements, Aphra registration or eligible to be member of Australian association of social workers.

Salary and BenefitsThe estimated annual salary for this role is between $80,000 to $120,000 AUD, depending on qualifications and experience.
