About the Role

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment is seeking experienced Policy Officers to contribute to the management of biosecurity risk through policy development and program delivery.

The ideal candidate will have experience in policy or program design and development, including the ability to investigate and source key information to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop policies and programs that align with the department's strategic objectives.
  2. Analyse information, interpret legislation and compliance frameworks, and make recommendations to support policy development.
  3. Liaise and effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage harmonisation of biosecurity treatments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  1. Experience in policy or program design and development.
  2. Ability to investigate and source key information to support decision-making.
  3. Experience producing instructional material, and correspondence with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Knowledge of the Biosecurity Act 2015 and the approved arrangements framework.
