We are seeking a highly skilled Global Sports Travel Operations Manager to join our team at Destination Sport in Sydney, Australia.

Destination Sport is a leading provider of business travel services to major sporting clubs and federations. Our bespoke travel service has been designed to meet the specific requirements of sporting organisations, from scouts and individual player movements to commercial departments and CEOs travel, both domestically and overseas.

Job Description

This is a hybrid role based in our Sydney office with flexibility for homeworking. As a Global Sports Travel Operations Manager, you will work alongside our highly skilled team to offer first-line support to clients wishing to book travel arrangements for various events worldwide.

The key purpose of this role is to process booking requests, amendments, cancellations, and respond to customer communication in accordance with ISO and company standards. You will also assist the Operations Manager, deputise in their absence, and support with training new starters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deputise for the Team Manager in their absence ensuring the branch continues to run efficiently
  • Assist the Team Manager in supporting consultants with any training needs and assist with new starters' integration into the team
  • Process reservations, amendments, and cancellations as requested by clients in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to company standards and ISO procedures
  • Deal with ticketing and reissues
  • Take ownership of complex customer enquiries received in writing or over the telephone
  • Offer a variety of flight options, explaining fare rules when booking flights
  • Convert general enquiries into actual bookings using available tools and technology
  • Monitor queues and ensure all communication, written and verbal, is professional, accurate, and conducted in a timely manner
  • Offer advice regarding destinations, best/most cost-effective carriers, etc.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for all client queries handled until successfully concluded
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Extensive experience working as a Business Travel Consultant, preferably in the sports travel industry
  • Prior experience booking flights and coordinating bookings
  • Ticketing experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with high volumes of email and call requests, processing complex travel bookings
  • Excellent worldwide travel knowledge
  • Proficiency in using travel booking systems, including GDS
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft packages (Excel, Word)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Accuracy in following complex instructions
  • Ability to work within a team environment to achieve team/department objectives
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Well-organised and quick to prioritise workload
  • Ability to think logically and consider all relevant aspects with strong analytical skills
Salary

$85,000 - $95,000 per annum
