Job Opportunity: Cognos Developer

We are seeking a skilled Cognos developer to lead the migration of reporting assets from Teradata to Databricks within our enterprise data platform.

  • Design, build, and maintain robust Cognos packages using Framework Manager 11.2.
  • Define accurate joins, relationships, and business keys between consumption entities.
  • Optimize the model to ensure high-performance and accuracy for reporting users.
  • Migrate and validate complex Cognos reports (scheduled and ad-hoc) from Teradata to Databricks.
  • Update and test queries embedded within Cognos reports against the new Databricks backend.
  • Resolve issues related to joins, key changes, or data mismatches during migration.
  • Review and optimize SQL generated by Cognos to ensure efficiency on Databricks.
  • Troubleshoot and debug report execution issues caused by query or model changes.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and BI Operations to validate migrated entities.
  • Provide expert support to business users in accessing data via ad-hoc queries and reports.
  • Document model changes, report migration steps, and provide knowledge transfer.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience with IBM Cognos Analytics 11.2.
  • Hands-on expertise with Framework Manager.
  • Strong SQL skills, with the ability to analyze, modify, and optimize queries generated by Cognos.
  • Experience in report migration projects.
  • Ability to handle both scheduled reporting and ad-hoc query support in Cognos.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in BI/reporting environments.
