The Role:

As a premier manufacturer of Food Cans in Australia, Visy produces over 500 million cans each year, catering to a diverse array of sectors.

In the position of Manufacturing Manager, reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will oversee the efficient allocation and management of manufacturing assets, including raw materials, workforce, and production and maintenance facilities. Your exceptional communication abilities and understanding of team dynamics will be crucial to your success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Promote safety awareness and ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and quality assurance systems.
  2. Guide the team in achieving targets related to workforce utilization, compliance with enterprise bargaining agreements, payroll processes, safety protocols, staff development, performance evaluations, continuous improvement strategies, cleanliness, production efficiency, service quality, and cost management.
  3. Engage actively in quality system evaluations, foster strong relationships with clients to guarantee satisfaction, and maintain effective partnerships with suppliers to achieve quality and supply chain objectives.
  4. Formulate and execute production and maintenance strategies, maintain performance metrics, and oversee the introduction of new product lines into the production area.
  5. Monitor and manage production and maintenance outputs, weekly performance indicators, and labor expenses. Ensure a comprehensive understanding of profit and loss statements and actively participate in the budgeting process.

What You Will Bring:

  1. Significant experience in people management within a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  2. Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and SAP, with an added advantage for experience with maintenance management systems.
  3. A collaborative, hands-on approach with a natural talent for building and sustaining meaningful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Qualifications in engineering or production and/or experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  5. Strong financial acumen, particularly in production budgeting (labor and spoilage).
