Job Title: Chief Financial Officer

This is a key leadership position that oversees all financial functions and ensures the organization's financial sustainability, compliance, and growth. The ideal candidate will have strong strategic financial planning and analytical skills, as well as experience in managing complex budgets, financial compliance, and risk management.

About the Role:

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting aligned with the organization's goals
  • Prepare annual budgets for the organization
  • Support team leaders in the management of their annual budgets
  • Oversee financial operations including payroll, procurement, and compliance
  • Coordinate and streamline income streams from grants, commercial activities, and service delivery
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements and reporting obligations
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior leaders
  • Present financial reports at meetings
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team
  • Promote culturally safe financial practices and build financial literacy across the organization

About You:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive and professional financial leader with a strong sense of cultural respect, integrity, and confidentiality. They will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in senior financial leadership roles, ideally in not-for-profit, Aboriginal-controlled, or government-funded organizations
  • Proven experience in managing complex budgets, financial compliance, and risk management
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities or organizations (highly desirable)
  • Strategic financial planning and analytical expertise
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Excel, and ERP systems
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities
  • Outstanding communication skills underpinning ability to present financial data to diverse audiences
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Commitment to ethical financial stewardship and community accountability

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting and/or Finance
  • CA/CPA or equivalent (desirable)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a recent National Police Clearance and undertake a pre-employment medical
