Grid Connections Specialist

We are a global leader in onshore renewables with a mission to power the world sustainably and responsibly.

As our Grid Connections Manager, you will achieve grid connections required by our projects in Australia. Your responsibility will be to deliver these projects in a timely and cost-effective manner, ensuring seamless connection management from development through construction.

  • Assist project development by identifying factors influencing and influenced by grid connections.
  • Manage and submit grid applications with all relevant information, progressing them through Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs), Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs), and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) without delay.
  • Negotiate with DNSPs, TNSPs, and AEMO throughout the review process to achieve timely results.
  • Review grid connection offers to ensure they meet our requirements and represent the minimum scheme necessary.
  • Create and maintain framework agreements with Independent Connections Providers (ICPs) and equipment suppliers to secure delivery capacity at commercial terms.
  • Develop standardised arrangements for grid connections that reduce installation time and cost while maintaining or improving plant performance.
  • Provide technical assistance to project managers, support departmental procedures, and introduce response sheets to common risk items.
  • Represent the Grid Department at Development Meetings, Delivery Meetings, and third-party stakeholder events as required.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Strong technical knowledge of the Australian Grid in all states at both DNSP and TNSP levels.
  • Experience in negotiating legal and commercial aspects of connection contracts.
  • Commercial acumen and good networks across the TNSP and AEMO environment.
  • Established relationships with DNSPs, TNSPs, and AEMO.
  • Previous experience in designing, constructing, and operating PV solar plants.

Requirements include:

  • Proven track record and experience in a similar role for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Education, ideally a degree in Electrical and/or Power Engineering, but other relative qualifications and supporting working experience will be considered.
