Climate Change Program Manager

Our Climate, Adaptation, Land Sector and Opportunities (CALSO) Branch is seeking to appoint a Project Officer - Programs to manage and deliver projects that help our government, communities and our environment adapt to the impacts of climate change.

The role sits within the Cultural and Ecosystem Adaptation (CEA) team which focuses on influencing policy, creating partnerships and seeding on-ground projects that drive cultural and ecosystem adaptation. It is meaningful work undertaken by a close-knit team with strong experience and expertise in ecology, Indigenous knowledge and biodiversity. We are passionate about bringing people together around the science of climate change, sharing and weaving western and Indigenous knowledge and supporting practical solutions for the benefit of local ecosystems and communities.

In this role you will:

• Turn complex ecological and climate science into easy-to-understand information, tools, guidance and resources for key stakeholders such as land managers.
• Drive knowledge sharing and peer to peer learning to improve stakeholder maturity around climate resilient restoration and conservation.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external partnerships to deliver on project outcomes.
• Work closely with the wider team to identify and target key strategic opportunities to ensure projects deliver on departmental, cultural and environmental priorities, policies and plans.

About You

We're looking for a passionate individual who is keen to help ecosystems adapt to climate change, promote Aboriginal-led adaptation, and guide conservation efforts. You will be a strategic thinker with excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills. You are a strong problem solver and communicator who can engage stakeholders and get buy-in around program objectives. You are collaborative in your project management and nurture partnerships to deliver quality outcomes and identify innovative opportunities/solutions.

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Environmental and Biological Sciences or another related discipline.

Benefits

• Office location - Parramatta / Newcastle and other regional locations considered.
• Environment Officer 8 - salary ranges from $108,119 - $121,982 plus super.
