We are seeking a visionary leader to join our team as the Director of Australian Astronomical Optics at Macquarie University's Faculty of Science and Engineering.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to lead a world-class research and innovation team, driving cutting-edge technology and scientific discoveries. As the Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to advance the field of astronomical optics, fostering collaborations with industry partners, and mentoring a team of researchers and engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement research and innovation strategies to advance the field of astronomical optics
  • Foster collaborations with industry partners to drive technology transfer and commercialization
  • Mentor and lead a team of researchers and engineers to achieve research and innovation goals
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support research and innovation initiatives
  • Represent Macquarie University at national and international forums to promote the university's research and innovation capabilities
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Proven academic leadership and research experience in the field of astronomical optics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaborations and partnerships
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to drive research and innovation
  • Strong budgeting and resource management skills to support research and innovation initiatives
  • Ability to represent Macquarie University at national and international forums
