Casework Assistant - Family Law

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Casework Assistant to provide expert support in family law proceedings, including Child Protection and Domestic Violence matters. You will have the opportunity to work closely with clients, external stakeholders, and our legal team to deliver high-quality services.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing casework assistance, conveying information and advice to clients in a clear and concise manner. They will also have the opportunity to develop and improve their skills in areas such as interpersonal communication, data management, and legislation knowledge.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Essential Criteria (6)
    • 1. Values: Alignment to the organisation's values and vision, with an appreciation of the challenges faced by clients in their pursuit of justice and equity.
    • 2. Qualifications: Admission as a Legal Practitioner within the state or eligibility for immediate acquisition of a current Practising Certificate, with admission to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the Australian High Court.
    • 3. Client service and data management: Sound interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey information in plain language using technology.
    • 4. Core legal duties: Experience in high-level client services in Family Law proceedings, including casework relating to Child Protection and Domestic Violence matters.
    • 5. Confidence in and knowledge of legislation: An in-depth working knowledge of key legislation and practices in the fields of Family Law.
    • 6. Access, teamwork and communication: Preparedness to work after hours, willingness to assist in staff training, and sound interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Desirable Criteria (4)
    • 1. Ability to use Microsoft Office: In a Windows networked environment.
    • 2. Criminal Law: Ability to assist on duty lawyer matters during periods of demand.
    • 3. Mobility, access and safety: A current Queensland Driver Licence and ability to drive in all reasonable conditions may be required.
