Genomic Research Assistant Job Description

The primary role of the Genomic Research Assistant is to provide laboratory support and contribute to research processes. This involves specimen processing, maintaining high laboratory standards, and providing administrative and technical assistance to the research team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and prepare human specimens under supervision
  • Perform DNA/RNA extractions and maintain detailed records
  • Liaise with genomic facilities and coordinate research activities
  • Assist in data entry and word processing
  • Support lab members in coordinating research activities

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with human specimens and performing molecular techniques
  • Strong laboratory documentation and record-keeping skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Benefits:

  • Part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed-term for 2 years
  • Base salary $89, superannuation provided
