Operations Manager

We are seeking a skilled Operations Manager to work alongside our team in Thursday Island. As part of this role, you will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operations, managing staff and resources, and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Crew Scheduling: Ensure safe, reliable, on-time, and cost-effective pilot transfers.
  • Vessel Monitoring: Monitor and schedule vessels, communicating with vessel masters as necessary.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate with our Brisbane operations team, launch crew, and marine pilots to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate with our Cairns-based Fleet Manager regarding vessel maintenance.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with our Quality and Safety Management Systems.
  • SMS Documentation: Monitor SMS documentation for compliance, including fatigue management, launch logs, maintenance, and safety drills.
  • Asset Management: Manage assets such as properties, launches, and staff.
  • RDO and Leave Relief: Provide RDO, annual leave, and personal leave relief for the Thursday Island Manager and Operations Officers.
Requirements
  • Safety Focus: You will be safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure as part of a team.
  • Time and Personnel Management: Strong time and personnel management skills are essential for this role.
  • Roster Flexibility: Ability to work a 7 on, 3 off, 8 on, 3 off roster, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar role preferred.

  • Accommodation Subsidy: Subsidised private and fully furnished accommodation on Thursday Island (rent $265/week + electricity/internet $30/week).
  • Annuual Leave: 6 weeks annual leave.
  • Air Travel: 4 return airfares to Cairns annually.

This is a full-time position requiring the successful applicant to reside on Thursday Island. FIFO applicants need not apply.
