Key Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Design and Engineering team.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, including propulsion, power, process plants, systems, pumps etc.

They will be responsible for supervising design groups, initiating technical discussions with suppliers, and integrating changes during vessel design and build.

In addition, they will be required to communicate effectively through drawings, verbal, and written means to all necessary parties.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, exhibit a consistent attitude toward innovation and improvement, and actively seek alternate methods of performing tasks.

  • Supervise design groups and oversee the design of complex onboard systems.
  • Initiate technical discussions with suppliers and integrate changes during vessel design and build.
  • Communicate effectively through drawings, verbal, and written means to all necessary parties.
  • Exhibit a proactive attitude toward innovation and improvement and actively seek alternate methods of performing tasks.
  • Carry out equipment selection for Machinery, propulsion, power, process plants, systems, pumps etc.
  • Prepare design and drawings including calculations and schematics.
  • Design exhaust systems, propulsion systems, domestic systems, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, fire systems.
  • Follow established processes for safety, quality, budget, and risk mitigation.
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical/Mechatronics) or equivalent.
  • Hold a Construction safety induction (white card).
  • Advanced AutoCAD Skills.
  • A solid understanding of Production methods and the practical application of design.
  • Experience working within a similar position, designing the elements of both auxiliary and domestic systems.
  • Understanding of typical ship mechanical systems, including how they work and the interface between structural, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory body Rules and Regulations requirements.
