The OpportunityAustal Ships Henderson is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team.
In this leadership role, you will oversee and contribute to the mechanical design and drafting of vessels throughout all stages of developmentâfrom initial concept through to final delivery.
You will play a critical role in ensuring engineering excellence, timely project execution, and alignment with Austal's quality standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Your expertise will guide ensure the team in delivering innovative, cost-effective, and compliant solutions across a diverse portfolio of maritime projects.What's InvolvedLead the production of accurate, high-quality engineering documentation that meets procedural, regulatory, and audit standards.
Set and uphold high standards for design accuracy, detail, and consistency in line with Austal's engineering and quality benchmarks.
Monitor project schedules and ensure timely delivery of mechanical engineering outputs without compromising quality.
Ensure construction deliverables are aligned with design intent and project timelines.
Facilitate effective task delegation and information flow within the engineering team and across departments.
Identify and implement innovative, cost-effective solutions to engineering challenges.
Contribute to strategic planning and development of engineering best practices.
You'll needBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
Proficient in Auto CAD with advanced drafting and design capabilities.
Strong understanding of production processes and the practical application of mechanical design in a manufacturing environment.
Lead the selection of machinery and oversee the preparation of detailed mechanical designs and technical drawings.
Ability to develop and manage detailed inputs for integrated design schedules.
Proven experience in supervising engineering teams, including setting goals, mentoring team members, and managing performance.
