Job Description:

The role of EAL/D Teacher is a temporary full-time position commencing until 18 December 2026. As part of a wider EAL/D team, the successful candidate will require significant experience in curriculum to support EAL/D students within Primary Schools.

  • Collaborate with School Leadership Team and CEDoW EAL/D Officers to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting EAL/D students.
  • Work with the school team to implement EAL/D Management Plan responsibilities and design professional learning opportunities to build teacher capacity.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and respond to student work samples and assessment data, using analysis tools such as ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions and ESL Scales.
  • Support EAL/D students' learning needs through collaborative planning and co-teaching, identifying and addressing individual student needs K-6.

About You

Applicants should demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of Catholic education. They should possess expert knowledge of EAL/D pedagogical practices grounded in current evidence-based research.

  • Identify EAL/D students' needs and plan for appropriate student support, using a range of strategies and resources.
  • Facilitate analysis of student work samples, using tools such as the ESL Scales and developing targeted intervention plans.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning, working collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will hold a post graduate TESOL qualification (desirable), qualifications for teaching Primary K – 6, Accredited Level B to teach Religious Education, NESA accreditation to teach in NSW, well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and support to teachers to improve instructional practice and student outcomes for EAL/D learners.

Develop and implement strategies to increase parental engagement and community participation in supporting EAL/D students.
