Our social enterprise Ethical Labour Hire is dedicated to making the world fairer and better.

It provides training and employment opportunities to people who need it the most, in work that cleans up, benefits and protects the environment. It provides Ethical Labour Hire and Zero Waste Services to progressive businesses, organisations and councils in Illawarra and Sydney regions.

The role

This is a permanent part-time role (30 hours per week) that delivers our Employment Pathways Program and is based in Port Kembla.

The Employment and Support Coordinator provides one-on-one and group support to program participants (mainly former refugees with low English and complex barriers to employment) from multicultural communities - applying a strengths-based approach to help facilitate pathways to employment and training opportunities.

The role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services (SCHADS) Award, Level 4.

Essential

About you
  • Relevant tertiary education OR equivalent relevant experience
  • Specialist operating knowledge/experience in employment and training services and or relevant field
  • Experience in delivering information sessions to stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining detailed job or training plans
  • Ability to engage participants to set and achieve goals to overcome barriers to improve their skills and job readiness
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with job seekers and stakeholders
  • Experience working in the multicultural agency sector, particularly with people who are former refugees
  • Demonstrated experience in case management using a strengths-based approach including needs assessments, developing and reviewing case plans, providing information, referral and advice
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel, email and database systems
  • High level of initiative, problem-solving skills, systems improvement and self-motivation
  • Experience in database/records management, ability to extract and analyse reports from CRM
  • Willingness to complete a national criminal history check

Desirable
  • Experience in delivering pre-employment/job readiness training programs
  • Lived experience of migration and or capacity to speak a relevant community language and knowledge of key services in the targeted region and surrounding areas
  • Labour hire industry experience
