Strategic Director

We are seeking an experienced and skilled executive-level professional to join our team at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. As an Assistant Director, you will play a key role in providing strategic advice on high-level issues, opportunities, and challenges related to the Great Barrier Reef and its management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans and policies to support the long-term protection and conservation of the Reef.
- Provide high-level support and advice to the Director and senior leadership team on policy and strategy matters.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, to develop and manage strategies for the delivery of the Authority's Corporate Plan and other strategic documents.
- Manage the development, coordination, and implementation of key deliverables, including the agency's journey towards co-management with Traditional Owners.
- Represent the Authority in external forums and participate in consultation and partnering activities with governments and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in public sector administration and understanding of government policy and workings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in working on programs and projects relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Essential requirements include an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
